Our Story
Ellerton Hall is owned by John and Lucy Gough who live at Ellerton Grange. In 2020 when the opportunity arose to purchase the Hall, there was no hesitation, as John had admired this striking house for all his working life.
The Covid-19 lockdown gave the family plenty of opportunity to sit around the dinner table mapping out their plans for a luxury holiday rental business. The whole house will be let on a self-catering basis, targeting large family celebrations and holidays.
A comprehensive renovation would be needed to bring the house up to the high standard that a luxury hospitality business will require. Work started in January 2021 when the whole house was surrounded in scaffolding and continued for 24 months under the direction of project manager Mike Speed and John.
Interior designer, Katie Briggs of ‘Keeping it Home’ completed the team, working with Lucy to decorate and furnish the house in an eclectic style that has respectfully blended the period character of the house with a fresh modern style.
The main house, including the six luxurious double bedrooms, was the first phase of the project. This is now completed. Plans are in place for phase two, which will be the renovation of another building to increase the accommodation by a further 3 double rooms.

We are passionate about protecting and enhancing the environment on Ellerton Hall estate and the surrounding countryside. We have been enthusiastic participants in renewables, countryside stewardship schemes and regenerative programmes for many years.
